With a ring on the brand new ship's bell, VOLPINI left AMELS for the second time in the spring of 2014, 10 years after the yacht's original delivery. AMELS completed the intensive winter refit of the 49.30-metre full-custom superyacht as scheduled and in time for the
new owner to enjoy the season in the Mediterranean. The key mission for AMELS was nothing short of a rebirth while ensuring the integrity of the yacht’s original character.
Part of the VOLPINI refit work scope was a complete repaint. It’s a point of pride at AMELS that a repaint is treated with the same meticulous attention to detail as new build paintwork.
VOLPINI had significant upgrades to technical systems including machinery and electronics, and completed its 10-year class survey. As the original builder, AMELS could easily find parts, check the original drawings or even find the original suppliers that worked on the yacht.
Alternations to VOLPINI’s interior and new woodwork matched the original build impeccably, ensuring the highest quality and seamless integrity. “Looking at the finish, it’s perfect,” Captain Nathan McFadyen says.
VOLPINI left AMELS in pristine condition. “AMELS did a fantastic job,” says owner representative Ben Young of SYM. “I would strongly recommend to anyone with a yacht of that quality to return back to the shipyard that built her to ensure absolute consistency and maintain the integrity of the yacht.”
